Summer Fruits for Your Dog
There are lots of yummy fruits that you can share with your dog to keep them cool through the summer! They each provide healthy benefits. Here’s a quick reference:
WATERMELON
Moisture-rich watermelon is tasty and helps keep your dog hydrated. It’s low calorie, fat free, low sodium and contains antioxidants. Remove the rind and seeds, then cut them down to the appropriate size for your dog. Frozen watermelon makes a very refreshing snack.
PEACHES
This fruit provides Vitamin A and easy to feed. Simply remove the pit and slice up. It can also be fed as a frozen snack.
STRAWBERRIES
Strawberries are loaded with healthy nutrients. antioxidants, fibre, and vitamin C. To prevent choking, cut them into half or quarter size pieces.
CANTELOPE
Cantaloupes are loaded with vitamins A, B, and C along with vital minerals including magnesium, potassium, thiamine. Remove the rinds and cut into bite size pieces.
BLUEBERRIES
Blueberries are low in calories and fat. They are full of vital antioxidants and nutrients like vitamins A, C, and E. You may want to mash up for small dogs to avoid choking.
MANGOS
Mangoes contain vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. Remove the skin, pit and cut into appropriate size pieces.
APPLES
If your dog loves crunch, they will enjoy apples. This healthy snack has lots of calcium, fibre, antioxidants, and are rich in vitamins A, C, and K. Remove the core and seeds before feeding.
